1.8.0

  • The radar page has been rebuilt. MRMS, hi-res radar, satellite, and lightning stay responsive while you pan, zoom, and loop.
  • Map Styles include a Flat view and a Globe view. Your style, globe setting, and saved styles sync with the web and your other devices.
  • Share a still image, a video loop, or a GIF from the share tool.
  • On iPad and other wide screens, Layers and Map open in a wider panel above the timeline. On Android, the side tools stay clear of the screen edges in landscape.
  • Lightning shows on both panes in split view. Pausing on an older radar time, then changing products or the split layout, keeps you on that time.
  • The Models tab has NBM and RRFS fields. Pick the model, field, and hour, then turn the model off to bring your previous layers back.
  • On the web, open an RRFS forecast sounding at a point, and hurricane guidance from HAFS-A, HAFS-B, HWRF, and HMON.
  • Observed Precip shows NWS Stage IV totals and how they compare with normal. On the web it goes back to 2016.
  • Hurricane Threats & Impacts shows NWS wind, storm surge, flooding rain, and tornado threat for a storm.
  • Pro users can add Google DeepMind cyclone tracks: WNV3 with 64 members, or FNV3 LE with 1,000.
  • Ocean currents can be drawn as moving particles, radar can sit on top of satellite, and a density slider controls how many surface observations are on the map.
  • On the web, split the map into two panes, or four with Pro. The cursor readout works in every pane. Save a perspective to keep the layout, the layers, and the map position.
  • Pro users on the web can drag Home sections into a new arrangement from Settings.
  • Get a precipitation alert up to 45 minutes before rain or snow reaches your current location or a saved place, with about how long it should last. It covers the US, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Guam where radar can see the spot.
  • Days 8–11 now come from an NBM point forecast for the whole country, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Guam.
  • Your account syncs places, settings, event weather, and your subscription across the web and the apps. An account can be signed in on up to five devices.
  • Swipe a favorite to delete it.
  • Lightning loads and loops faster. Level 2 radar displays on the globe, and storm tracks and storm reports are in the web layers list.
  • River flood statements show the latest issuance, and each river keeps its own What, Where, and When.
  • Radar menus follow larger text sizes. On Android, home screen widgets are more reliable, and the radar map stays up when the system font size or dark mode changes.
  • Tropical track intensity stays current when the NHC updates a storm between advisories.
